The GGAFL opened it's 7th season on Saturday April 26 in Concord. An enthusiastic ANZAC Cup match the week before had led officials to believe the season would open in fine style and even the weather cooperated. Under great football conditions at Ygnacio Valley Park the Australian Diggers 12 Goals 8 Behinds (80) defeated the Rest Of The World 9 Goals 9 Behinds (63) in the 2008 ANZAC Cup. When a small group of Bay Area footy followers transformed
the Santa Cruz 'Roos into the Golden Gate Australian Football League in
early 2002, they had high hopes for the new league. The GGAFL enters
its seventh season in 2008 with an expanded schedule, four solid clubs,
and continued enthusiasm for the future.
